Mulch Types We Install
We install whatever style fits your yard:
- Hardwood mulch โ classic dark brown, great all-rounder
- Pine bark โ chunkier, holds up well on slopes
- Dyed mulch (black, brown, red) โ for color that lasts the season
- Pine straw โ the traditional Southern look
Pine Straw vs. Mulch โ What's Best for Your Beds?
Pine straw is light, easy on plants, and gives that classic Georgia look โ but it breaks down faster and needs refreshing more often. Hardwood mulch lasts longer per install and feeds the soil as it decomposes. Many yards mix both: pine straw under pines and around shrubs, mulch in formal front beds. We'll give you an honest recommendation based on what you have.
When to Refresh
Most beds want a refresh once a year โ typically in spring once nights are reliably above freezing. If you went heavy the previous year, fall touch-ups every other year are fine. Pine straw is usually a 1โ2 times per year cadence depending on look preference.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you deliver the mulch or do I need to?
We deliver. Pricing includes material, delivery, and install โ you just point us to the beds.
How deep should mulch be?
About 2โ3 inches for most beds. Deeper smothers roots; shallower doesn't hold moisture. We install at the right depth as part of the service.
Can you do just installation if I already have material?
Yes. If you've already got mulch or pine straw on hand, we'll install it for a lower rate. Just mention it when you quote.
Will mulch hurt my plants?
Not when it's installed correctly. We keep mulch back a few inches from trunks and stems to prevent rot and pests.
